Four shows down, and Paris next. I'll be tweeting the Paris show, as it happens, so follow me on twitter to stay updated.
It seems that with every tour, at least in the beginning, people always find something to hone in and talk down about. I see it on many u2 forums, and it frustrates me. I've been a U2 fan for 26 years and I'd like to believe that true U2 fans understand what U2 is all about and where they are coming from during each tour. It's easy to pick which songs you want to see, or to rip on the I'll Go Crazy remix, because it's different. But, taken solo, and out of the context of the living organism that is a U2 live show, and done so from the perspective of a casual fan who only knows the hits and what radio plays, I get easily frustrated.
The beauty of U2...the brilliance of U2 is that they are always evolving. The show is like interacting with a friend, who has his own moods and his own mind. Each show comes from a different perspective. Like a friend, every day will be different. The songs may not always be, but the attitude, the emotion, the soul will be, and that, if you can connect to, is what makes them so great.
If you can do that, and connect with it, which all real U2 fans do, you'll find the show to be an exhilarating journey of emotions, that taken as a whole, accurately expresses who U2 is at that singular, unique moment.
That's my take. I wish they'd play a few other songs, too, but it's okay if they don't, cuz I get it.
Because U2 is my band.
Nice blog!
