U2 Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me…and C.S. Lewis
Published by Rich at 10:50 am under Creative, Theology, music
So I was doing a bit of research for new tunes for The Forefront to play and I ended up listening to “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me,” the old Batman Forever Theme song. Now I know that for most U2 aficionados, this is not the pinnacle of U2 greatness. However from a musical standpoint, I absolutely love the melody and the development of the song. It has a hook and killin’ chorus. That being said I started watching it and I notice one seen where the animate U2 band is walking down the street while Batman is chasing some villains. The rest of the band gets out of the way but Bono does not make it as he is reading a book. The Villains’ car hits him and he lands on a pile of rubble with the book next to him with the title showing. I couldn’t quite read it so I I thought I would freeze the video to see. Watch the video first and see if you can catch it, then scroll down!

The Screwtape Letters
C. S. Lewis’ “The Screwtape Letters.”
Floored me! Now how many of you U2 elitists will reconsider the song?

Muse to join U2 at Glastonbury?
Online speculation suggests that Muse will headline at Glastonbury 2010
Muse: future headliners at Glastonbury 2010?
It could just be wishful thinking from fans, but rumours about Muse appearing at Glastonbury 2010 are gathering pace online.
With U2 recently confirmed as one of the headline acts, various online sources are suggesting that Muse have also signed up to play.
The band has a clear schedule for Glasto weekend, and bass player Chris Wolstenholme has stated that the band would be playing festivals next summer.
"I think we'll be busy all summer, it will be a combination of stadiums and some headline festival slots," Chris told NME.com. "It's good to vary it up a bit."
No official comment has been made by the band or the festival organisers.

U2 sells out in 2 hours

People hoping to score tickets for U2's Twin Cities concert next summer most likely still haven't found what they're looking for.
Tickets for the concert at TCF Bank Stadium went on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. Within minutes, only single seats were available at the websites of the merged ticket brokers Live Nation and Ticketmaster. It was sold out within two hours.
Dozens of U2 fans vented their frustrations on the Star Trib
une's website, most often angry at commercial ticket brokers who routinely scoop up large numbers of tickets and resell them at a premium.
They railed about the 2007 state law that legalized ticket scalping in Minnesota, saying it keeps affordable tickets out of the hands of individual buyers.
Last year, state officials tried to come to music fans' aid by creating the "Hannah Montana" law that makes it illegal to use software that allows buyers to jump to the front of the online queue to buy up huge blocks of tickets.
Although the websites operated by Ticketmaster and Live Nation employ security measures intended to block ticket-buying robots known as "bots," it's not clear how effective they were Saturday.
Tickets ranged in price from $250 to $95, $55 and $30, plus fees.
Additional tickets were set aside by the University of Minnesota in pre-sale bundles for students and season ticket-holders to all Gophers teams.
The new stadium holds about 50,000 people for football games, and thousands more will be on the field for the June 27 concert.
The Hannah Montana law was inspired by her 2007 concert at Target Center that almost instantaneously sold out; at the same time, online resellers were offering tickets for $1,000 or more.
It was followed up this year with the "Bruce Springsteen law" that makes it a misdemeanor for a ticket seller to divert tickets from the initial public sale to a secondary seller, unless authorized by the event or venue.

U2 are hoping to pay one final visit to their favourite haunt in Temple Bar before it shuts.
The group are currently enjoying a well-deserved break after a hectic schedule of concert dates as part of their sell-out 360° tour throughout Europe and the US.
But before they take to the stage once more, the Dublin foursome are hoping to pay homage to Freebird Records, the store that helped progress their music interest back in the 1980s.
The record store, which is one of Dublin's oldest music shops, has become the latest victim of the recession and will shut this month.
U2 and other musicians, including Oscar winner Glen Hansard, were regular visitors to the city centre haunt. Owner Brian Foley, who opened in 1978, says sales have decreased so much that he was left with no option but to close.
Lovers
The record shop, which is well-known to underground music lovers, will close on Saturday week.
Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr are currently spending time with their families, but are hoping to return to Dublin for a visit before Christmas.
"I've no doubt the U2 guys will be disappointed," a close pal of Bono said. "They've never forgotten their roots and always look after those who were good to them on their way up.
"I'm sure they will try and go in for one last visit before it closes -- if they are back in Dublin before then.
Shop assistant Jack Patella said Dublin is losing a special venue.
"There's just not enough business. Temple Bar is dead during the winter," he said.

Outrage over wall blocking free U2 Berlin concert
Nov. 5, 2009, 5:19 AM EST
BERLIN (AP) -- Fans hoping to catch a glimpse of U2's free concert celebrating 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall will have to "scale these city walls" after organizers threw up a massive barrier to block the view for those without tickets.
The move has triggered outrage from Berliners, who see the irony in building walls around a concert dedicated to the wall that has come down.
Music network MTV, which organized Thursday's concert in front of the Brandenburg Gate, did not respond to requests for comment.
Some 10,000 tickets were made available online for the Irish rockers' free show — and they were snapped up in just three hours.
The Berlin Wall fell Nov. 9, 1989, ending almost 30 years of east-west Cold War division.

Bono inspired Jay-Z?

(note: I am not sure how accurate this is; I've never seen this site before)
London, Nov 1 (IANS) American hip hop artist Jay-Z has confessed he used to be a “horrible” performer and had to study U2 singer Bono to learn onstage tactics.
“I used to be a horrible performer. I was terrible, because I’m not really an animated guy and really move around, so I had to figure out a way how to convey my message and talk to people in compact movements, all the while, being entertaining,” contactmusic.com quoted Jay-Z as saying.
“There is a very thin line between not moving and being boring… He (Bono) doesn’t move around, he’s just a powerful performer. He knows how to exaggerate his movements. He knows how to have that conversation, without moving around much. I don’t know if he moves… anywhere. He’s a dynamic performer,” added Jay-Z.
